Insomnia. When you need to sleep and can't

I can't get no sleep.
Lucky me

  Yes, I suffer from insomnia, along with thousands of others, I'm sure. And I know that people around me have good intentions when they come up with all these ideas of what to do, what will cure it, all that stuff - I appreciate it, really I do, But I have to say, it gets a bit wearing - l know it's the first time they've given me this advice, but it's not the first time I've heard it - it's not even in the first thousand now, I think.

  So, in the interests of future communications, I'd just like to say that yes, I've tried:

  • Sleeping pills
  • stopping drinking caffeine
  • milky drinks at bedtime
  • herbal rememdies for sleeping
  • exercise
  • hypnotism
  • early nights
  • having a fixed bedtime
  • reading til I'm tired
  None of it works - I've tried all the normal methods, as well as some distinctly abnormal ones - none of them have been any more successful than I am at juggling flaming axes with one arm tied behind my back.

  I try and keep an eye on everything that goes on with regard to insomnia, but this story from the BBC looks like it might be pretty interesting. Maybe I should try it sometime soon...
