Food Stuff

Posted by: lyle   in Health, Resolutions

While I am (in general) being pretty good food-wise at the moment, I do still have some thoughts about certain things.

  1. Following on from a gym session, walking the dog, and generally freezing one’s arse off, the restorative powers of chip butties (or, in this case, chip ‘wrap’s in tortillas) are greatly under-rated. And not excessively fatty.
  2. No matter how appetising their muffins and cookies look, there’s just something that stops me from buying Otis Spunkmeyer foods. Don’t know what *cough* other than a slightly childish sense of humour, but I just can’t do it.
  3. Cheese must have addictive qualities. I’ve cut down on my intake of it since moving, and it’s the only thing I crave.
  4. Hotel Chocolat‘s Chocolate enrobed fruit (particularly the Mangos and Oranges) are truly evil and lovely.

I agree with you on the cheese thing. I went from easily being able to eat a whole slab or cheese and eating cheese (say cheddar) melted on cheese (say feta). I’m sure cocaine is easier to refrain from.

Ditto, I’m also trying to cut down my cheese intake, and find myself thinking, “Well, brie isn’t really a cheese is it, it’s more of a spread … and I can’t see the cheese inside these filled-pasta shapes, so it doesn’t count…”

Chicken kebabs get me, can’t resist em. Or pepsi. But having stopped smoking relatively recently I think my body is still looking for a nicotine substitute.

Absolutely on the cheese thingy. It was the major thing I craved when I lived in America (what they call cheese over there is a very, very poor substitute). When I came home, all I would want for a couple of days was cheese on toast, and cheese and crackers. Oh, and I also used to crave the cheap, pink, pasty sausages – not sure why on that one, but I did.

I cannot live without cheese.

At all.

There’s just no point in trying, so I don’t.
