All Happening

In a fit of chaotic timing, I’ve got an interview this afternoon. In fact, due to the joys of post-dating things, I’m there now.

Initially it was arranged for next week, but of course that wasn’t going to happen. So instead it got brought forward to today. Should be interesting!

Changing Workflow

While we’re away next week, I’m aiming to start getting used to the RAW format for photos. I know the camera will take RAW and JPG images simultaneously, so that’s going to be the initial stage.

As for processing those .RAW images, I’ve just downloaded a trial edition of Phase One‘s software, Capture One LE, which should be interesting. I’ll install it on the laptop, so it’s away with me, and then just see how it goes.

I’ve written before about my feelings with regard to RAW vs. JPG, but I’m slowly coming round to the idea that maybe I do need to do some work with RAW files as things progress. So we’ll just have to see how it goes – I suspect that the learning curve may be rather cliff-like, but it’ll give me something new to do…

Contracts

Hallelujah.

After eight weeks of chuffing about, we’ve finally got the contracts through for the house purchase.

They’ll get signed and sent back this week, so we’ll hopefully be exchanging before the end of the month. Yay!

It’s still a bit of a scary step, but at the same time I can’t deny, I’ll just be happy when it’s all over and done with.

Insured

I have to say, I’m really rather impressed with Tesco’s car insurance.

First of all, because I’ve been a named driver on Herself’s policy, it worked in a way similar to a no-claims bonus (which I don’t have) and meant that my insurance was shedloads cheaper with them than with anyone else I looked at.

Second, I needed to get a copy/confirmation of the policy over to the place I bought the car before I go and collect it, so that they can sort out the six month’s road tax, and all tht guff. And while they initially managed to get the relevant fax number wrong (twice) once they’d got the number right, everything went through fine.

And yesterday all the paperwork came through, after having organised it on Saturday. So I’ll have that with me as well when I go to pick the thing up tomorrow.

Now maybe this is just the norm for insurance companies, I don’t know. But for now, well, I’m impressed.
