Yesterday, I finally got my car back.
It’s got a whole new clutch, along with master and slave cylinders. And yes, I did get to see the old clutch – wow, talk about knackered. Basically, the entire thing had just about exploded – fortunately without breaking the casing or whatever.
It’s not been cheap – just under £800 – but hopefully that’l be me done with the garage for a while.
Fingers crossed…
I’ve already written about being signed up for going to the World Horror Convention in Brighton at the end of March 2010 – which sounds like it’s going to be an interesting event.
However, there’s also the Odyssey 2010 EasterCon for SciFi stuff, which has a considerable appeal to me – except it’s only about a week after the WHC. Bugger.
At the moment I can’t decide between them – I’m more of a fan of SciFi writing than Horror (in general) although I’ve got enough of both genres to qualify on either count, I suspect.
So somewhere along the line, I’m going to have to make a decision – because somehow I can’t see Herself wearing it if I’m away for the best part of two weeks, one after the other…
I forgot to mention before, but following on from the farce last month with my fuckstick accountant going bankrupt I’ve now sorted things out with a new one.
As it happens, it’s the accountant who has picked up a lot of the business from the fuckstick one (although not the premises, branding or debts) so the likelihood of him disappearing now is even less likely.
It’s not been an easy process – it’s involved seeing two more accountants, and then figuring out costs, benefits etc. but I’m generally pretty happy with the results, and feel a bit more reassured this time round.
Just for additional fun, it looks like some of the information given to me by the previous fuck-knuckle has turned out to be – well, if not wrong then decidedly shaky. Never a good thing when it comes to trying to avoid the indelicate attentions of HMRC…
Still, at least it’s another thing sorted out (even though I do still have to sign some papers etc. to get it finalised) and off the list.
I don’t think we’ll be getting any this year, but I love this idea – growing tomatoes upside down, using a hanging-basket bracket, and letting gravity do the work instead of needing to use canes etc to support the growing plants…
Thankfully, in light of the previous post, I still have stuff of my own that I can be getting on with. In fact at the moment I’ve got five or six projects ongoing still, which include…
- Three websites for different clients
- At least one writing project
- Two websites I’m writing myself.
So that should keep me out of trouble. That’s the theory, anyway…
So this week in the office I’ve got no work lined up – and nothing for the next few, either.
It’s all a bit weird – at the interviews I was told there was plenty to be getting on with, but now the most recent project has finished, it seems there’s nothing for a while – so I’m sat here twiddling my thumbs a bit.
Guess this is as good a time as any to start looking for new contracts…
So this weekend, the workload between us has involved…
- Making of two raised beds, as detailed yesterday
- Filling both raised beds with earth/manure etc. (Pretty much a ton between the two)
- Redistribution of water from the massive water-butt down to smaller (emptier) ones around the place.
- Painting of the garden shed
- The first grass-mow of the season for the prairie (AKA the back garden)
- Strimming round the edges
So, not really all that busy then. *ahem*
