Turin Brakes – Manchester Academy
I can’t really come up with a valid review or thoughts on this concert. For once the Academy was absolutely rigid with people, and had turned into a complete sweatbox – supposedly fire regulations meant that they couldn’t – um – open the exit doors. (No, I haven’t worked that one out either, but there we go) So it was rigid, full of fuckwits barging through for booze and/or talking to their mates instead of listening to the fucking music they’d paid £15 to hear, and it was just generally shit.
Musically, from what I heard, Turin Brakes were bloody good – but the crowd and venue combined into such an epic level of cuntdom that I’m afraid to report, dear reader, that for the first time in five years, I left early.
