Today I’ve discovered (yet again) that actually one of my biggest problems when it comes to running my own site-design business as well as working for a living is when the two sections bounce off each other.

The place I’m now working for is very much an ASP house, it’s all Microsoft, OLEDB, ODBC, SQL Server and the like. The stuff I do for myself is far more “Open Source” – PHP, MySQL, that kind of thing.

The conflict comes when you try writing ASP commands in a PHP page, and vice versa. And yes, I’ve done both today. Utterly tubular, but the joys of keeping at least two programming languages current in the brain at the same time, particularly when they do pretty much the same things.
