Christmas Parties

On the first one, I had an interview, and thus couldn’t make it. On the second, I was just too late for a ticket. (i.e. an email got sent out saying ‘all tickets have been sold’, and I made a comment about “Damn I was just going to get one”) For the third, I got the date wrong, and ended up having something else booked in the same time-slot. Whether I would’ve turned up even if I had got the date correct, well, that’s open to discussion. (Anyone voting ‘probably not’ would most likely win a prize)
And now there’s only a week left of work, and I think I’ve dodged the bullet yet again.
In fact, I’ve only ever attended two works christmas parties, and one of those was forced upon me. Then again, I just spent that evening drinking outrageous amounts, and woke up the next morning still pissed.
At the end of the day, my attitude in general amounts to “I don’t like you fuckers when I’m working with you, so why the hell would I want to socialise with you outside work?” Which never seems to go down all that well, but does have the (sole) virtue of being true…
Don’t take this the wrong way mate but bloody hell you don’t half put a lot of effort into appearing to be a miserable sod.
I get you don’t like Xmas but it’s surely not healthy to be quite so vitriolic about it? Surely there is SOMETHING about this time of year you like?
Yep, December 26th. Oh, and Jan 2nd, when all the bollocks is over with.
Why don’t you like the people you work with?
In honesty, the ones I’m working with at the moment are OK, and I have been known to socialise with them. Just not in the Festering Season.
In general, I just don’t like the people I have to work with. Hell, I’m a contractor, I’m used to being disliked! Heh.
LOL. Shoulda seen THAT answer coming! (the first one.. ohh and the second one too!)
