Preserves

I can’t believe how domestic this is, but today we’ve been making marmalade and lemon curd. As yet we haven’t tried them out, but I’m optimistic that they’ll be good.

With the lemon curd it’s probably not actually cost-effective – I think each of the two jars we’ve made has worked out as being about 85p-£1, but it might work out slightly better if we make more in a batch. Not much cheaper, admittedly, but well, we’ll see.

As for the marmalade, that’s the one I’m not yet convinced about – it might still need another boil. But it looks fantastic.

Still, it’s another step on the entire domestic ladder. Sad, but true.
