Am I bollocks. In fact, I really don’t want one. If I wanted a new smartphone (and at the moment I really don’t) I’d go for either the new HTC TyTn 2 (itself an upgrade from the K-JAM I used to have) or the Toshiba Portege G900 (which looks very similar to the TyTn)
In general I’m not great at buying into hyper-branded products (Yes, Apple, I’m looking at you) anyway, and while I can see that the iPhone has its uses, they’re not uses that are on my list of requirements for a phone.
So no, I don’t want an iPhone, and I don’t plan to get one. Ever. I can think of much better things to spend the money on, to be honest. Particularly when (as DiamondGeezer points out that cost over the length of the contract works out at £900, (£269 to buy, then £35 for 18 months – on a contract that’s worse than the one I’m already on) yeah, I can think of better things.
I’m a fan of Apple, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. But yes, they are not incapable of making mistakes.
The iPhone LOOKS like a smart bit of kit, but I think when my next phone is due I’ll go back to Windows Mobile. Unless I’ve shifted my ‘personal’ stuff to my Mac in which case the sync (something that just doesn’t keffing work on my shit Samsung crapola phone) would be a major PLUS.
I’m considering keeping myself ‘amused’ by getting an iPod Touch though. Halfway house and all that… we’ll see.
Gadget Show tested it the other week. Only problems they found was that it was pretty rubbish at phone calls, texts and taking photographs and videos. It did look pretty though.
my phone contract has just finished, so ive changed my package and gone with the sony ericsson k810i seems a nice phone, iam not to fussed with all these gubbins which lots of phones have, but iam inpressed with its camera functions, i now can take pics and upload them to my pc and so on which will be very handy,
