*Sigh* pt. II

So far, well, neither of them is proving to be up to standard. I had to look at the first page the designer had churned out yesterday, and frankly it was fucking awful. Yeah sure, the design was OK, and that is primarily what he’s supposed to be doing. But then he’s also writing the HTML to go behind the page, and doing it epically badly. Considering he was supposed to be comfortable with XHTML etc., the code he’s written is fucking abysmal.
As for the project manager, all I can charitably say is “more feet than clues”. I despair.
Why is a designer writing code? Sounds wrong to me…
Because – unsurprisingly – Arsehole Boss doesn’t want to “just” hire a designer, he wants someone who can “help” the coders with their stuff.
In practice, “help” in this context is synonymous with “fuck up”
I wa sgoing to offer that AB is a one step forwards, two steps backwards kind of guy but I fear that would be too kind…
When I write code, it also looks surprisingly like I typed it with my feet (the W3C validator comes up with an amazing 123 errors for my blog), so maybe I do indeed have a future as a web designer.
