Oncoming Darkness

Can’t you tell that Autumn’s coming in?

When I get up to get ready for work, the sky is just lightening. In fact, it doesn’t get light really until I’m almost at the office.
In the evenings, the nights are drawing in disturbingly fast. A month ago I was closing up the chicken coop at 9pm or later, now it’s 8-8.15, by which time it’s already dark, rather than just dusky. And that time is going to become earlier and earlier.

In the mornings, when I let the hens out, the grass is covered in a heavy dew – I’ve taken to wearing my boots instead of trainers now to go up, as the trainers were soaked by the time I’d walked up and down the garden. (And this morning the wisteria got me, dripping down the back of my neck as I went under it.)

Yes, Autumn’s definitely on the way.

    Ha! Synchronicity!

Yup – conversely, with me, it is now dark on the way to work, and on the way home.

Feels much more like the way it should in respect to my job, even if it means that I get to see less daylight.
