MP3 playlist
Posted: Fri 24 June, 2005 Filed under: Music, Weirdness 2 Comments »I’m on a train later tonight, and I’ve just been thinking (again) about how surreal my music tastes can be.
The MP3 player is currently loaded with the following albums :
- Alabama3’s “Outlaw” (which is bloody good, it has to be said)
- NIN’s “With Teeth”
- The The’s “Hanky Panky” (a set of Hank Williams covers)
- Daddy G’s “DJ Kicks” compilation (mainly dub and reggae – very mellow)
- Marc Almond’s “Tenement Symphony” (camper than a row of tents)
- KLF’s “White Room” album
That’s a fair selection of genres in there. And yet to me it makes sense in a scary kind of way. And also (to me) flows pretty nicely.
Forecast Fox
Posted: Fri 24 June, 2005 Filed under: Geeky Leave a comment »Gordon was talking about the “Forecast Fox” plug-in for Firefox yesterday, and I’ve just noticed another thing about the latest version.
Up ’til recently, it just basically told you what the weather would be in general for the morning or afternoon. That now seems to have been updated (along with the ability to see a radar map of your area) Today’s report is :
Friday, Day, in Wokingham, UK.
A shower this afternoon. 23°C
Wind NW 2mph
Now that’s really pretty precise. Of course, it’s not perfect – they’re no longer banging on about thunderstorms today at all. Which is a bummer.
Bandwidth
Posted: Thu 23 June, 2005 Filed under: Geeky Leave a comment »Speaking of bandwidth etc. when it comes to d4d™ and WordPress, I’ve taken it upon myself today to kill the bandwidth at work. We’ve got a 2.5Mb connection, and I’m downloading the CD images of Debian Linux. Which’ll make life interesting on the new PC.
There’s also been a small matter of 20 remixes of NIN’s “The hand that feeds”, which I’m looking forward to listening to. Maybe not all at once, but certainly over the next couple of days.
So yes, work’s bandwidth is slightly busy today…
WP (thoughts)
Posted: Thu 23 June, 2005 Filed under: Geeky, Thoughts 3 Comments »Recently I updated my WordPress installation, which I wrote about at the time. If you’re not interested in WP, I’d suggest looking away now, and I’ll write some more rubbish later on. Promise. Otherwise, read on… Read the rest of this entry »
B&Q

Told you I’d manage it…
Summertime Trim
Posted: Wed 22 June, 2005 Filed under: Animals 1 Comment »A while back, you may remember that we had to get the cat shaved so he was no longer manky. I hoped at the time that this might mean he’d take more care of himself so as not to get laughed at again. Oh, how wrong I was. He’s even more of a mucky little sod now than he was before, and is in fact currently a strange shade that can only be described as “dusty grey”.
Anyway, due to the warm weather, we decided that Hound® was now due for a trim as well. Hound® isn’t quite as psychotic as Psycho Cat®, so we decided to undertake this task at home over the weekend. And in fact it all went pretty well – the fur was removed to a sensible level, and we don’t have any bald bits, which is a sign (so far as I’m concerned) of a successful job.
Hound® however hasn’t been quite so convinced. Her back end has lost all it’s tassles of fur, so she now looks like a collie crossed with a whippet. Which, if I’m honest, is bloody funny. She’s definitely a lot cooler than she was before, but I suspect she knows she looks a bit silly…
