Bridge and Terry

Am I the only one that thinks both John Terry and Wayne Bridge need to grow the hell up?

To me – and I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a great team-player, and don’t give a tin shit about football in general – Bridge’s stepping down from the England team (and thus international football) is a self-destructive dummy-chuck of weapons-grade proportions.

And besides, why on earth does Bridge (and/or the media in general) think Bridge has got any fucking right whatsoever to throw a strop about who his ex-girlfriend decided to be with once they’d split up?  Let alone do the full petted-lip and “taking my ball in” strop about it. In the same perspective, what right has Bridge got to throw a strop about who John Terry decides to shag?

I must have missed something relevant in this entire farce, because it seems to me that this is all the kind of thing that most people got over in secondary school.

  1. All fine – except for the point that Bridge and his other half were “going through a split” rather than “split” when Terry stuck his oar (ahem) in. She’d moved out of Manchester, back to their house in Surrey. Terry, a near neighbour, was (as a friend might) trying to get her to go back to Bridge. Except, of course, he wasn’t.

If you were splitting up from someone and a mate told you they were talking to your other half and trying to get her to go back to you, I suspect you’d be somewhat annoyed when it turned out they were shagging them – and, it should be remembered, got them pregnant a couple of months later.

Got to admit, I neither know nor care on that score.

All the media reports I’ve seen class her as Bridge’s ex-girlfriend, implying that they’d split up. If she’d moved out then that is (to me) fairly indicative of no plans to return.

I guess in the situation you describe, Ian, it’s a bit more scummy, but still, it happens. Get over it.

I just think the entire thing is too “Jeremy Kyle” for words.
