Gah.
At last
Posted: Fri 14 October, 2005 Filed under: Domestic, Geeky 4 Comments »Well, last night I ordered the bits for the new PC…
- Shuttle SK83G box
- Athlon 64-bit 3400+ processor
- 1GB PC3200 RAM
- 16x 16x DVD Dual Layer +/- RW
- 200Gb Seagate S-ATA hard drive
- Windows XP Pro 64
At some point I’ll probably end up getting another hard drive as well, but for now 200Gb should be all I need.
And that should do me for a while. The current PC was one of the first 1Ghz athlon chips, so I’ve had it about four years now. As yet I’m unsure what I’ll do with the old one, although I do know I need to completely flatten it once I’ve moved all the relevant data over to the new PC.
Still, that’ll all be a job for next week, once it arrives…

Most of the time this didn’t actually bother me, which is why I left it the way it was. After all, the first rule of techies is “if it works (after a fashion) why bother fixing it?”.

It probably won’t last long, but I was having a bit of a statisticky moment, having just passed that 3,000th post, so I thought it might be somewhat interesting. Of course, it’s not really, and it’s of no use to anyone except me. But all the same, well, I thought I’d find out.
In other news, I’m now a lot more familiar with some of how WordPress works, so that much-mooted anti-sweary “worksafe” version may just come into being at some point soonish. Maybe. If you’re lucky.
