Going Solo

Assuming that everything comes through OK (I’m still awaiting final confirmation) one of the interesting things about the new job will be how I handle working from home (WFH) for four days a week.

I know I gripe (regularly) about colleagues and so on, so in some ways it might be nice to not have to deal with people for a while. But at the same time it is good to have some social contact, which wouldn’t necessarily be the case with a WFH role.

Time will tell, I’ll find out how I do. I’ve still got other options, potentially including renting an office space that I can share and get some social interactions in that way. We’ll see.

Is there an office at all for this place?

4 days WFH sounds great to me, I’m currently pondering pushing my boss to let me do 2-3 days at home if at all possible. My day is split between geographies (Jakarta in the morning, Bedford MA mid-afternoon, Sunnyvale CA in my evening) and my time in the Glasgow office is largely emails and updates which could be done remotely.

I find days WFH hugely more productive, I can get through a typical amount in comparison to an office in only a few hours, so can either push on and be more productive or take a little time to be productive for myself (or just chill with a coffee).

    Good luck either way!

There is an office – well, they rent one for one day a week in London – but it’s primarily all remote-based, and always has been. Which is fine.

And yeah, in my experience WFH gives me a lot more productivity and so on. I just haven’t done it in that duration before, which is what’s causing the doubts.

I’ll just see how it goes, and whether it works for me, or whether I have to figure out alternative working environments.
