Two Years On

It’s now two years (well, just over, as it was the early May Bank Holiday weekend) since I moved into the current house. That move was probably one of the most stressful ones I’ve ever done, as it all happened while my dad was in hospital with heart issues, and the move itself was done in just one day.

You know how they say that the most stressful things in life are moving house, changing jobs, and relationship breakups? Try doing all three at once, with added health concerns of a parent.  It makes for an interesting weekend, it’s fair to say.

A lot has changed since then – most of it for the better. The job stayed the same ’til July last year, and then I’ve been back on the contracting side and done a fair variety in the remaining time. Finances have improved beyond measure – at least relatively speaking – along with my own health, sanity and stability.

Dad’s fine too, still with us, and far healthier than he was.

Two years ago I couldn’t see this far, couldn’t see the light that was beginning to glimmer at the end of the tunnel. I’m not yet out of the tunnel completely, but that light is all too visible now, and I know things are well on their way.

One Year

Exactly one year ago today – date-wise, rather than weekday-wise – I moved to the new place.

It’s been one hell of a year, and eventful in many ways.  Looking back, in some ways it’s raced past and feels like only a few weeks. Indeed it’s only when I look back and list the amount of stuff I’ve actually done in that time, check out all the changes and occurences in that time, that I realise how much has been done, and then it seems amazing how I’ve fitted it all into such a short span.

There’s still a lot to do, many changes to be made, many things to be tried and worked on. Some I’ll do, some I won’t. But this last year has been a good building block, and it’s laid the foundations for a lot of the upcoming stuff that should be really quite interesting.

What a Year

It really has been quite a year.

In the last twelve months, I’ve…

  • Moved house. Twice.
  • Changed jobs. Twice. (And also gone from Contractor to Permanent Employee)
  • Declared Bankruptcy
  • Started rebuilding everything

There’s been a fair amount of other stuff going on as well – not least, a constantly increasing workload – but they’ve been the main events.

This time last year, I had eased off D4D a lot – there was only one post in December, for example – but that’s slowly coming back. It’s not back to the old glories yet – maybe in 2013, who knows – but things are definitely on the way back up.
