All Done

However, 34sp went tits-up this morning, which made it look like I’d made a complete bollocks of it. Fortunately, I hadn’t, it just looked like it. Fuckers.
Still, D4D™ is now on its nice new server, and things are looking good.
Big Drive
Posted: Mon 20 November, 2006 Filed under: Geeky, Getting Organised 1 Comment »Partly due to the move, but also partly down to my requirmeent for some more storage of geeky stuff at home, last week I ordered a 320Gb Western Digital “My Book”, which arrived in time for the weekend’s shenanigans.
And I have to say, it’s a fantastic little bit of kit – I’ve now got all my music, photos, and documents backed up on it, and I’m debating what else needs sticking on there for preservation purposes (must figure out how to save my FTP settings for all the various websites – although that should be lessened with the decision to change to that reseller account) so I can dump all that on there next weekend when I’m back home.
Definitely an impressive bit of kit – and one I’ll find many more uses for over time, I’m sure – and for less than £100 all told. Can’t be bad.
Reseller
Posted: Sun 19 November, 2006 Filed under: Geeky, Getting Organised, Own Business Leave a comment »Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to be doing a fair amount of work on my various sites.
I’ve recently (i.e. in the last week) moved over to 34sp‘s reseller account, which basically means that all the sites I run will move to one server (when I move them, rather than when someone else tells me to) and all be able to be managed and maintained with one log-in rather than the 15 I currently have.
It also means I have 750Mb of webspace and 15Gb of monthly bandwidth to play with, which I can spread around the 15 sites. Some sites I handle need more bandwidth than others, but all the same, it should keep me going for a while.
At the same time, I get to save some money, and move some sites around from where they’ve been costing me more than they should. In fact, in the course of the first year, I stand to save more than I’ve actually paid out, due to getting refunded any remaining time on the existing hosting agreements, and also to save myself on one particular piece of hosting that’s proved to be remarkably optimistic – and thus unnecessary right at this moment.
So all told it’s going to be an interesting little project, and I’m quite looking forward to it, actually.
Fuckin’ Comments

I’m going to be looking at upgrading/redesigning D4D™ to WordPress 2.0 while we’re away this weekend, I think.
Bloody thing.
UPDATED : And now it’s fixed again. Poxy thing, definitely needs looking at. Grrrr.
Comment Problems – Again
Posted: Thu 19 October, 2006 Filed under: D4D™, Geeky Leave a comment »Yes, comments are currently down – I’ll work to resurrect them as soon as I can.
It’s due to an epic dollop of comment spam which has locked up the database table. Fuckin’ brilliant. Twice in a month that’s happened. I may even need to upgrade WordPress – something I’m emphatically not looking forward to.
UPDATED : All sorted – it was exactly what I thought, the comments table had locked up. A simple SQL repair table and ta-da, job done.
IE7
Posted: Thu 19 October, 2006 Filed under: Geeky 1 Comment »Yes, Microsoft has finally released Internet Explorer v7 for download. It’s been around for a while as a Beta release (and is installed on my work PC by default) but it’s live at last.
Now I can see what’s confirmed as being broken (and/or fixed), instead of just suspecting…
UPDATED : Be warned, it involves a restart, and takes about ten minutes to do the entire install – and that’s on a fairly decent laptop. Not a quick update (which was obvious, but all the same – it’s a bit of a job!)
